A secondary employment is a potential conflict of interest because it might interfere with you employment at Stora Enso.  Therefore, before accepting a secondary employment you should always clear it with you manager or Legal, Ethics and Compliance.

All employees are expected to avoid actual or apparent conflicts of interest. A “conflict of interest” occurs when a personal, professional or financial interest interferes, or even appears to interfere, with Stora Enso’s best interests.

Being a board member or representative in another company is a potential conflict of interest because it might interfere with you employment at Stora Enso. Therefore, before accepting any kind of engagement in another company you should always clear it with you manager or Legal, Ethics and Compliance.

Investing in another company

All employees are expected to avoid actual or apparent conflicts of interest. A “conflict of interest” occurs when a personal, professional or financial interest interferes, or even appears to interfere, with Stora Enso’s best interests.

Investing in another company, which is for example a customer, a supplier or a business partner of Stora Enso is a potential conflict of interest if it might interfere with Stora Enso’s interest. Therefore, before making investments in companies which might interfere with the interests of Stora Enso, you should always clear it with you manager or Legal, Ethics and Compliance.

Needless to say, ordinary private investments in shares or funds in larger publicly traded companies, represents no conflict of interest risk, and does not need clearance.

Contracts with a companies managed by a friend

Entering into contracts or business relationships with companies run or owned by friends or relatives is a potential conflict of interest because it might interfere with the best interest of Stora Enso. If you are in the process of engaging a closely related company you should act transparently by reporting the situation to your manager and exclude yourself from the decision making process.
